“You may be aware that the University and College Union (UCU) has announced ten days of strike action in the coming weeks. 

Derby College are empathetic to the position of our UCU colleagues but they remain committed to endeavouring to ensure your education is not disrupted during the days of strike action.

The College will remain open throughout the strike period and, whilst some of your timetabled sessions may feel a little different, your programme of study will continue.  It is essential that you continue to attend all of your timetabled lessons.  The College’s student support teams remain available for you to access as normal.

Finally, the College share UCUs concerns around funding for the further education sector and continues to join with others to lobby government to increase funding for colleges.”  - DCG
 

Furthermore, regarding us at the Student's Union we are also empathetic to the position of the UCU colleagues and hope that your education isn't massively disrupted and we agree that something needs to be done around funding for the Further Education sector.

As well as this, we still acknowledge how confusing a time it will be on the following dates: Mon 26th September - Wed 28th September, Thurs 6th October - Fri 7th October, Mon 10th October - 11th October and finally Tues 18th October - Thurs 20th October. I believe it is vital that you all also know that when it comes to your education and lessons, it's still important to try and get in on these days as and when you can.
